About LLL and Our History
Linder Learning Land is a private school, owned by a mother who was a teacher in Klein ISD and wanted something better for her own children. It is not a franchised preschool run by a faraway corporate office and not a “chain” daycare – YES – Linder Learning Land is truly a unique facility in today’s world! How LLL Started Betty Linder created Linder Learning Land in 1982, just after her second child was born. She wanted to provide the same classroom and life experiences for other children that she and her husband, Gene, wanted for their own children. Betty had taught public school for over 15 years. Gene was a marriage and family counselor for many years and eventually decided to change his career goal, going into law enforcement. Their personal experiences and professional expertise lend a depth to Linder Learning Land that makes it excel as an early childhood school. Linder Learning Land’s motto is “Quality of a School; Conveniences of a Daycare”. As a working mother, Betty wanted to combine the comfort and warmth of her home with the atmosphere and educational programs of a school, but she also needed the “daycare” conveniences of being open work-day hours and year-round. When Betty was looking for a place for her own children, she couldn’t find this. Facilities were either “daycares” - more babysitting-type situations-some with pretty buildings and flashy brochures but still really just daycare - or “private schools” which didn’t enroll the younger age of children that her sons were nor did they have “working parent” times to be open. Betty saw “daycares” calling themselves “preschools” or “academies” but their programs lacked structure and educational professionalism. Having dedicated her life to children, Betty Linder made the tremendous decision to quit teaching in the public schools and to take a chance - she created her vision and founded Linder Learning Land. Started originally in her home, after the urging of the parents whose children she taught, she leased a space at the corner of Wunderlich and FM1960W. Linder Learning Land was there for 14 years during which LLL enrolled children from infants through elementary. In 1996, Betty had the opportunity to buy over two acres of undeveloped land and was finally able to build her dream. In fact, if you look closely, in the driveway at LLL is the inscription “Our Dream – Gene and Betty"
Linder Learning Land no longer offers enrollment to elementary age children. It has re-focused its goals and become a school dedicated solely to early childhood education. Though still retaining curriculums and teaching materials through the first grade level which may be utilized when teaching gifted children, Linder Learning Land now concentrates on those most formative years of a child’s life – up to five years old. Not being exposed to the behaviors of older, public school age children enables Linder Learning Land to nurture your child and create an atmosphere which comforts and concentrates on his/her stage of growth and development exclusively. Being a school with the same administrator for over 25 years, Linder Learning Land offers a level of stability, personal interest, and caring not found in other facilities. With Betty's name on the side of the building and many of her previous students and fellow teachers bringing their own children (and grandchildren) to Linder Learning Land, a feeling of warmth and “home” abounds amidst its educational atmosphere.
