Preparation for Success
Our program prepares your
child for success in elementary school by offering a solid foundation of
academics taught with a very low student-to-teacher ratio so that each
child is able to receive the support he needs. More than just academics,
Linder
Learning
Land
continues to fulfill its goal of helping your child develop into a
self-assured, responsible and mannerly person.
More Individual Attention
for Your Child
Public school
prekindergarten classes average 20 children per one teacher whereas Linder
Learning Land's Private Prekindergarten averages 20 children with TWO
teachers. In this crucial year, when your child is transitioning from
early childhood to elementary, this extra individual attention is
extremely important to your child's development.
Believing in balance, LLL
encourages your child to learn both through exploration play and through
the traditional teacher-directed activities.
Our
unique Private Prekindergarten utilizes two separate but attached
classrooms.
One classroom is arranged
with learning centers and the other classroom is arranged as a traditional
classroom except that we have small group tables instead of individual
desks.
Keeping
You Informed
Our Private
Prekindergarten gives out nine-week progress reports, similar to the
report card that your child will be receiving in public school. This is
part of Linder Learning Land's goal to prepare your child for the routine
and procedures of public school.
Believing in the U.S.
Department of Education's No Child Left Behind Act which states that a
quality early childhood education is crucial to a child's future school
success, Linder Learning Land follows the Texas Education Agency's
Guidelines for Prekindergarten Curriculum (You can view those at
www.tea.state.tx.us/curriculum/early/prekguide.html )

Variety of Curriculums
We incorporate several
curriculums in our Private Prekindergarten. We teach using the Frog Street
Press language arts program, which incorporates a great deal of music in
its teaching strategy, and the SRA Learning to Think series which helps children
sharpen their reasoning skills. Several different math curriculums published
by McGraw-Hill and Scribner are also taught.
Reading Readiness
Most of our children are
reading before the end of the school year. At one time, Linder Learning
Land taught through Private Kindergarten and Private First Grade,
so we have more advanced reading and math curriculums available if any of
our children are ready to have further challenges.
The Day of a PreK Student
The day starts with
Circle Time with all of the children together in the academic room. After
Circle Time, the class is split, with some of the children going to the
Exploration Room and others staying in the Academic Room. This allows
each teacher to focus on groups of ten or fewer children!
The
academic teacher usually also has a teaching assistant so the lead teacher is
able to even further divide the children so that she is able to work with
small groups of about five children. These groups rotate and change
throughout the day and depending upon the subject being taught. With the
academic studies, Exploration Play, Computer, Spanish, Motion and
Movement, Arts & Crafts, going outside to play, playing in our indoor
air-conditioned playroom, and eating in our cafeteria - your prekindergarten child has a wonderfully
balanced day full of learning and
fun!
